Chestnut Purée - Classic and comforting dessert

A classic and comforting dessert, Kesten Pire is the perfect way to enjoy chestnuts' natural sweetness. Creamy, rich, and utterly satisfying, it’s ideal for cozy nights or festive occasions!

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg chestnuts (a few might not be perfect, so keep that in mind)
  • 500 ml milk
  • 2 packets of vanilla sugar
  • 2/3 tablespoon sugar (adjust to taste)
  • Optional: Rum essence for extra depth
  • Sweet whipped cream (for topping)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the chestnuts: Score each chestnut with a cross (for easier peeling). Boil for 20–30 minutes, peel while hot, and mash.
  2. Cook the purée: In a pot, combine mashed chestnuts, milk, vanilla sugar, and regular sugar (plus rum essence if using). Simmer until the chestnuts absorb the milk. If too thick, add more milk; if too thin, continue cooking while stirring to avoid sticking.
  3. Serve with style: Divide into cups or bowls and top with freshly whipped cream.

Serving Idea: Garnish with chocolate shavings or a drizzle of caramel for an indulgent twist. This recipe yields about 4 generous servings.

Perfect for chestnut season—your taste buds will thank you! 🌰
