Quarkbällchen (Fritters): Sweet, Soft, and Irresistible

Ingredients:

  • 350 g flour
  • 200 g sugar

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar

Instructions:

1. Make the Dough:

Start by whisking the 4 eggs with the 200 g sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy. Add the 500 g quark cheese and mix well. Then, gradually add the 350 g flour, followed by the 1 teaspoon baking powder and the vanilla sugar. Stir everything together until you have a smooth dough.

2. Prepare for Frying:

Once your dough is ready, transfer it to a freezer bag. Cut off one corner to create a piping bag. Heat a pot of oil over low heat. The oil should be medium hot but not smoking, as this will ensure the fritters cook evenly.

3. Fry the Fritters:

Squeeze the dough into the hot oil, creating small fritters. Fry them in batches, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and puffed up (about 3-5 minutes). Be sure not to overcrowd the pan so they fry evenly.

4. Coat with Sugar:

Once fried, remove the fritters and place them on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil. While still warm, roll the fritters in some sugar to coat them.

5. Serve and Enjoy:
