Vanilice (a popular Eastern European pastry)

This recipe was inspired by a tip from a German group, and it’s the fastest I’ve ever made these pastries!

Ingredients:

  • 280 g flour
  • 210 g butter or margarine
  • 70 g powdered sugar
  • 100 g finely ground peeled almonds
  • 3 packets of vanilla sugar


Instructions:

  1. Mix all the ingredients together to form a dough.
  2. Chill the dough briefly in the refrigerator.
  3. Shape the dough into your desired form for the vanilice (small round or any other shape you prefer).
  4. Preheat the oven to 170°C and bake for about 8 to 10 minutes. They should not brown.
  5. While still warm, dust with a mixture of powdered sugar and vanilla sugar.

For an even coating, you can mix the powdered sugar and vanilla sugar together, then sift it over the vanilice for a uniform dusting. This method ensures they look as perfect as possible!
