- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 2 large tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon paprika (smoked or regular)
- 1 teaspoon chili flakes (adjust to your spice preference)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions:
- Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Season the tuna steaks with salt and pepper.
- Sear the tuna steaks for 2-3 minutes per side, or until cooked to your preferred doneness. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking for about 2 minutes until soft.
- Add the bell pepper and cook for another 2-3 minutes, until tender.
- Stir in the chopped tomatoes and tomato paste, and cook for 5-7 minutes, until the tomatoes break down and create a sauce.
- Add the paprika, chili flakes, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine and simmer for a few minutes to develop the flavors.
- Return the tuna steaks to the pan, spooning the sauce over the top. Let it cook together for 2-3 minutes, allowing the tuna to soak up the flavors.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving. Enjoy your spicy, savory tuna.
