This delicious Turkish pizza, also known as Lahmacun, is a savory flatbread topped with a flavorful mixture of ground meat and vegetables. Here's how you can make 10 pieces:
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 500g flour
- 250ml lukewarm water
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- Half a cube of fresh yeast
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
For the Topping:
- 1 carrot
- 1 onion
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 yellow bell pepper
- 1 handful of fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 350g ground meat (beef, lamb, or a mix)
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 small cup of tomato puree
- Salt, pepper, paprika (sweet or hot, as preferred)
Directions:
Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast. Gradually add the lukewarm water and olive oil. Knead until you have a smooth, elastic dough. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise until it doubles in size.Prepare the Topping: In a blender, finely chop the carrot, onion, and bell peppers. Combine them with the fresh parsley, ground meat, tomato paste, and tomato puree. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix everything together until well combined.
Shape the Dough: Once the dough has risen, divide it into 10 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten each into a thin, round disc, about the size of a frying pan.
Cook the Lahmacun: Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Place one of the dough discs in the pan and spread 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture evenly on top. Cover with a lid and cook for about 4 to 5 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the topping is cooked through. While the first one is cooking, prepare the next one by rolling it out.
Finish and Serve: Once cooked, cover the Lahmacun with foil to soften, making it easier to roll up. You can enjoy them as is or fill them with your favorite toppings, such as fresh herbs, tomatoes, or a drizzle of yogurt.
Enjoy your homemade Turkish pizzas! They're perfect for a quick meal or sharing with friends and family.
